Building Fires in the Snow release date set: Sept. 1, 2016

by Lucian Childs

Editors Martha Amore and Lucian Childs are pleased to announce the publication of the anthology "Building Fires in the Snow: A Collection of Alaska LGBTQ Short Fiction and Poetry."

The book will be published by the University of Alaska Press and released September 2016.

While rural and small town life are represented in the collection, the bulk of the short fiction and poetry tells urban stories, those of the everyday lives of LGBTQ Alaskans. As such, the book will help broaden perceptions about our state, will challenge readers’ understanding of what it means to be queer and will be part of the larger conversation about how we live up here in the north.

The book's 26 contributors include many of the state's finest writers as well as emerging voices whose unique points of view help stitch together the patchwork quilt of modern LGBTQ Alaskan life.
